Open auditions to become a member of the American Youth Ballet Company have closed. However, if you are interested in becoming a member and meet the minimum requirements below, you may call Ms Balestracci, the Artistic Director for CAPA, at 757 229 8535 and schedule an appointment.

Ages 9-13

Requirements:   A minimum of 4 hours per week of classic ballet classes.  No Pointe required but must be enrolled in an established pre-professional dance program

Ages 11-14

Requirements:   A minimum of 4 hours per week of classic ballet classes with a minimum of 2 years on Pointe and enrolled in an established pre-professional dance program.

Ages 13 & up

Requirements:   A minimum of 6 hours per week of classic ballet classes with a minimum of 3-4 years on Pointe and enrolled in an established pre-professional dance program.

The Community Alliance for the Performing Arts (CAPA) Fund is sponsoring the development and growth of the American Youth Ballet (AYB) Company.   

Company members receive many benefits including:

1. Assured role(s) appropriate to the member’s level in a minimum of two productions per season.
2. Company Members will have their own headshot and biography in programs for all American Youth Ballet productions.  Apprentices will have a group photo in programs.
3. A 33% discount on all costume rental fees for each production the Company Member participates in.
4. An exclusive company T shirt.
5. 2 complimentary tickets per company member for Nutcracker.
6. 2 complimentary tickets per company member for the production scheduled for the spring season.

The annual Company Participation Fee is $275.
